I love it when people try to claim representation in fiction is being taken “too far” to the point where it’s no believable. They’re like:

“What’s next, a mixed-race immigrant on the autism spectrum?” Hi, my name is Rachel, also known as Rachna, and I’m a mixed-race immigrant on the autism spectrum.

“What’s next, a transgender Latino man with chronic pain?” What, you mean my former colleague, Marco?

“What’s next, a Black Jewish lesbian?” Bitch, I know I three Black Jewish lesbians, WHAT’S YOUR FUCKING POINT?

I say this with affection: the Honor & Glory guys are absolutely fucking insane. They’re going on? Eight years of work now? With the eventual end goal of recreating every inch of Titanic in painstaking historic detail. There used to be an actual game planned for the environment as well but I think at this point it’s 100% about the ship.

Godspeed, you lunatics. Hopefully my computer will be able to handle the end product.

I feel like this video did more to explain to me than anything else ever has why people were so pressed to ride this thing. I mean—can you imagine? Look at it! I grew up in the 90s, you’ll never catch me far from my phone, and I don’t think I’d miss it for the week I’d be aboard. It’s gorgeous. There’s so much to do. I’m terrified of boats (a certain blockbuster film from 1997 might have a little to do with that) and even I’m charmed by the idea of traveling on this.

I'll have more thoughts on this later, but there's a thing my local queer communities did, especially in the twenty-teens, where they tried to be as inclusive as possible while still drawing a hard line between insiders and outsiders and it functioned in practice as a big ol Fuck You to anyone with OCD

"Trans women are all beautiful virtuous angels and cis men are all disgusting pigs and also the dividing line is based entirely on good-faith self-identification" Do you see how this is practically engineered to make transfems feel constant anxiety that their self-identification isn't sincere enough?

today-i-am-tumbling

this is so well-put, I continue to meet so many younger people who chase themselves in circles trying to find their “correct” labels because our communities have made that kind of precise unwavering self-ID such an integral part of being queer. it’s almost like you have to figure out that label BEFORE you can participate in queer spaces, instead of figuring it out *through* your participation

thank you for your insight, I hadn’t made the OCD connection before but my early LGBTQ identity experiences make a lot more sense with that lens…
